If I Can End DECADES of Chronic Diarrhoea, So Can YOU

And if you’ve cut out food after food and you still have diarrhoea, you’ve been making the same mistakes I made!

After decades of living with chronic diarrhoea, I finally stopped chasing foods and started looking at the underlying drivers. Finally Solid is a PDF guide that shares what I discovered — and the five-part framework that helped me break the cycle.

If You’ve Tried Everything, You’re Not Alone

It probably seems like your diarrhoea is being caused by something you ate. So you cut out dairy. Then gluten. Then coffee. Then spicy food. Maybe you’ve tried low-FODMAP, probiotics, supplements, elimination diets — or simply stopped eating before going anywhere.

I know because I did the same thing.

And the more foods I eliminated, the more restricted my life became — without actually solving the problem.

The problem wasn’t that I hadn’t found the right diet. I was looking in the wrong place.

So What Finally Changed?

The breakthrough wasn’t finding one magical food or eliminating one more ingredient. It was understanding that several things were happening at the same time — and that they were feeding into each other. Chronic diarrhoea rarely has one cause. In my experience, and in the years I spent looking for answers, it comes from five drivers that feed into each other. That’s why fixing one thing often doesn’t hold. In my book Finally Solid, I discuss what each one is, how to spot it, and how they fit together.

Inside Finally Solid, You’ll Discover

-> SIBO & Bacterial Overgrowth

Bacteria in your gut can end up where they cause the most trouble, and some foods feed them more than others. When that happens, bloating, gas and urgency can show up soon after eating, and certain fibres, sugars and fermented foods can make it worse. This was the missing piece for me, and I explain it in Chapter 5.

-> Bile & Fat Digestion

Bile is what your body uses to break down fat. If rich meals send you rushing to the toilet, or your stools are pale, oily or hard to flush, your fat digestion may need attention. There’s a dedicated section for readers who’ve had their gallbladder removed.

-> Leaky Gut

When the gut lining is more permeable than it should be, your body can start reacting to foods it used to handle. If your list of problem foods keeps growing, this may be part of the picture. I also cover how much alcohol can affect your gut, which most people (including me) underestimate.

-> Food Triggers

Food can be a trigger, but it’s often the messenger rather than the cause. Reactions that seem random or change from day to day can point to something underneath, which is why chasing foods on their own can go in circles. The book includes my Trigger Detective Method to help you work out your own.

-> Stress, Fear & the Gut-Brain Loop

Your gut and brain are in constant conversation. Stress can speed things up, and worrying about having an accident can keep the loop going. Planning your day around toilets or dreading meals out is part of the same pattern, and it isn’t a character flaw.

And histamine runs through it all. It can add to reactions across several of these drivers and make diarrhoea worse in the moment. I cover it in Chapter 8, “Histamine: The Hidden Thread.”

Is Finally Solid For You?

This book is for you if you’re tired of planning your life around your bowel.

  • You’ve lived with diarrhea for months or years and still don’t know why.
  • You’ve eliminated food after food, only to find another one that seems to cause problems.
  • You’re afraid to eat before leaving the house or going somewhere without easy access to a toilet.
  • You’ve tried diets, supplements or probiotics but nothing has provided a lasting solution.
  • You suspect there’s more going on than simply “something you ate.”
  • You’re ready to stop endlessly restricting your diet and start looking at the bigger picture.

    I Know Because I Lived It

    For decades, chronic diarrhoea wasn’t just a digestive problem. It affected where I went, what I ate, how I travelled and how much I worried about being near a toilet. I tried changing my diet again and again, constantly searching for the food I was supposedly reacting to.

    But eventually I realised I was asking the wrong question. Instead of asking, “What food is causing this?” I needed to ask, “What is happening in my gut that is making these foods a problem?”

    That change in perspective set me on a completely different path. I began looking at the underlying drivers — SIBO and fermentation, bile and fat digestion, gut permeability, food triggers and the gut-brain connection. And slowly, the pieces started to make sense.

    That is the journey behind Finally Solid.

    I’m not a doctor or a gastroenterologist. I’m someone who lived with this problem for decades, tried countless approaches, dug deeply into the research and eventually found a way forward that changed my life.

    And if I can do it, you can do it too!

    About The Author

    After decades of living with chronic diarrhea, Sue became determined to understand what was really happening in her gut.

    Her journey took her through years of dietary experiments, research and plenty of wrong turns. Along the way, she discovered that chasing individual foods wasn’t solving the underlying problem.

    Finally Solid brings together what she learned into a practical five-driver framework designed to help other people with chronic diarrhoea understand their own patterns and start asking better questions.

    Sue writes about gut health, nutrition, metabolism, healthy ageing and the lessons she’s learned from experimenting on herself — with a particular focus on looking beyond conventional one-size-fits-all dietary advice.
