Part 3: Carnivore Diet Myths

When I set out to write about what I saw as myths, misleading information and inconsistencies within the carnivore diet narrative, I planned to write ONE article. But it was too long. So I split it into two parts, and then someone said I had not provided any evidence that humans ate plants during the Ice Age. He argued that what I’d shared was an opinion, and I was essentially making it all up. And while some of what I write about IS opinion, because this is my Substack and I’ll share my opinions if I want to, there is actual evidence that humans ate plants during the ice age.

So this has now turned into a three-part series because I had to write the final chapter and provide ‘the evidence’ for the naysayers.

But, before we get into it, if you’ve not read the first two parts of this series of articles, you can click on the following links and do that now.

Now let’s get into it!

Did Humans Eat Plants During The Ice Age?

As I said in the first article of this series, it is obvious (unless blinded by preconceptions) that humans would have consumed plants during the ice age. Common sense tells us that if there were plants for the animals to eat, there would have been plants that humans could eat as well.

And yes, while there might be some plants that mammoths could eat that humans could not eat, to assert that there were NO plants at this time, as Dr Chaffee tends to do, is simply untrue. If nothing else, humans would have consumed the chyme from the stomach of their prey, just as hunter-gatherers have in more modern times.

But luckily, we don’t have to rely only on common sense, because it seems that’s in short supply these days! There is actual evidence that humans consumed plants during the ice age, and that there were, in fact, plenty of plants available!
